Description
On our private tour of south-west Bali, you can experience some of the most iconic and beautiful locations the island has to offer in one day. We've grouped these locations together into what we believe is the most comprehensive and leisurely way possible to experience these UNESCO World Heritage sites, while being in the car the least amount possible. This tour covers a lot and is one of our top experiences in Bali you simply don't want to miss.
Starting in the morning we depart early for the magnificent temple of Ulun Danu Bratan Temple, located in the famous resort town of Bedugal on Lake Beratan.
We want to leave early today to avoid the rains which always come in the late morning / early afternoon and to enjoy the best photos of this incredibly positioned temple. There will be plenty of stops en-route where we can stop to taste some of the finest coffee in Bali, which is known for en-route.
Following our time in Bedugul, we carry on into the valley where the incredible Jatiluwhi rice terraces are located. This is an area so beautiful, it is considered one the world's most beautiful natural landscapes and for this reason became a Unesco World Heritage site in 2016. The landscape itself is protected and revered with good reason.
The incredible rice terraces which cascade down the valley dotted by pure rivers and streams, farmers tending to their fields, unique bird-life and generally fantastic colors in every direction, make this spot an ideal place for a walk and to enjoy lunch at one of our favourite locally run restaurants with simply terrific views. Your driver-guide can recommend some fantastic local specialities which you can enjoy in what is nothing short of a paradise.
After lunch, we carry on to Taman Ayun Temple, which dates back to the Mengwi Empire (17th century) and is one of Bali's six royal temples. The complex is made up of beautiful pagodas and traditional architecture, as well as extensive, dreamy gardens where you can wander past lotus ponds and fountains. The incredible and usual architecture here, makes it seem like the temples are floating and makes for a great walk, not to mention photos!
Finally, from here, we head to the beautiful coastal area and temple of Tanah Lot where you can experience this incredible temple built on the sea. The coastal views and walk to the temple are incredible at sunset hour and we've worked our timing out, so you can visit the temple, before you begin the Balinese sunset dance, which takes place in one of the most beautiful locations on the coast.
With the rich colors of the sun setting behind the performers over the Indian ocean, following the dance, we have a perfect location for dinner overlooking the sea where you can dine this evening before we head back to your hotel or villa.
